The large natural Black Oak bowl is somewhat rustic looking. I left the crotch cracks in and finished it with Mahoney's Walnut Oil. Because the bowl has a few cracks and inclusions I would probably not use it for a wet salad. It certainly could be a dry serving bowl for bread or other items or simply a lovely rustic display bowl.
