MAPLE
MAPLE 16
This large vase-shaped Maple bowl is unique. The grain patterns change as you go around the surface. There is some slight spalting and chatoyance to add intrigue. The finish is satin smooth and feels wonderful to the touch! WOOD: Maple; DIAMETER: 12 1/2"; HEIGHT: 8 1/4"; WEIGHT: 1 Pound 12 Ounces.
Maple 7
This spalted Silver Maple bowl has amazing accents. The accents or "zone lines" are created when a fungus spreads within the wood. I had several pieces of silver maple sitting outside waiting to turn. Some moisture must have entered the wood causing the spalting I caught it just in time to create these fantastic accents. This bowl is fairly thin and light. It is best used as an art piece. The wood is fully sealed with a Danish Oil finish. WOOD: Spalted Silver Maple. SIZE: 9 3/4" Diameter by 3 3/4" Tall.

Maple 17
This large Spalted Maple bowl is quite unique because of the random spalting throughout the wood. It sat for almost three years drying before I decided to final turn it. The spalting pattern emerged making for an excellent serving bowl/conversation piece. It has a food safe finish and would work well as a large salad bowl or display bowl. WOOD: Spalted Silver Maple; DIAMETER: 14 3/8"; HEIGHT: 5": WEIGHT: 1 Pound 14 Ounces.

WALNUT
Walnut 26
This Black Walnut Burl bowl is truly one-of-a-kind. It was turned from a piece of very wet burl (recently dug out of the ground) and set aside for two years to dry. Because it was so wet it warped quite a bit and looked almost unturnable. I gave it a try because the burl was so interesting and this rather odd shaped bowl emerged. WOOD: Black Walnut Burl; DIAMETER: 11 1/2"; HEIGHT: 4"; WEIGHT: 14 Ounces.

ASH 12 - "Butterfly Bowl"
This large Ash bowl has a branch inclusion and drying cracks. I liked the bowl, but the cracks concerned me. When Julie took a look at it she immediately saw the butterfly. WOOD: Ash; SIZE: 9" Diameter by 5" Tall; WEIGHT: 1 Pound 6 Ounces.
Ash 14 - The Flying Saucer
Own your personal Flying Saucer! This medium-sized Ash hollow form is a good display piece. It was hollowed through a hole just under 1" in diameter. Not an easy feat. This solid Black Locust serving tray has some beautiful peacock feathers burned into the surface. It could be used as a serving tray; cheese board; or even a cutting board. Black Locust is a very hard wood. The finish is food safe and applied OVER the burned and painted designs protecting them from many washing and other wear. It is slightly warped as a result of the drying process. A small set of wedges will be applied to the bottom to stabilize the platter OR a lazy susan bottom can be applied - your choice! WOOD: Black Locust; DIAMETER: 14 1/2"; HEIGHT: 3/4"; WEIGHT: 4 Pounds.
MANZANITA 2
This small Manzanita bowl was turned thin to avoid cracking. Itis made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. It is rare to find large Manzanita trees available for turning. WOOD: Manzanita; DIAMETER: 6"; HEIGHT: 2 1/4"; WEIGHT: 4 Ounces.
MANZANITA 4
This medium-sized Manzanita bowl has two decorative rings cut and burned into the rim. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. It is rare to find large Manzanita trees available for turning. WOOD: Manzanita; DIAMETER: 8 1/2": HEIGHT: 3 3/8"' WEIGHT: 14 Ounces.
MANZANITA 7
This medium-sized Manzanita bowl was turned thin to avoid cracking. It is almost like a thin light-weight platter. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. It is rare to find large Manzanita trees available for turning. WOOD: Manzanita; DIAMETER: 8 1/2": HEIGHT: 1 3/4"; WEIGHT: 6 Ounces.
MANZANITA 8
This medium-sized Manzanita bowl was turned thin to avoid cracking. It did move a bit as it dried giving it an interesting shape. There are a couple of "heat cracks" from the fire that have been repaired. A small patch of surface bark has been retained. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. It is rare to find large Manzanita trees available for turning. WOOD: Manzanita; DIAMETER: 8 1/4"; HEIGHT: 3"; WEIGHT: 8 Ounces.
MANZANITA 10
This medium-sized Manzanita bowl was turned thick and heavy to allow me to keep a portion of the bark intact. The coloring is amazing. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. It is rare to find large Manzanita trees available for turning. WOOD: Manzanita; DIAMETER: 8 1/4"; HEIGHT: 3 1/8"; WEIGHT: 1 Pound 7 Ounces.
MANZANITA 11
This stout medium-sized Manzanita bowl displays some amazing colors. I left some bark on the bowl to compliment the "battle scars" left by the intense heat. It is made from a tree that burned during the October 2017 Tubbs Fire. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. Because it was turned from a crotch piece the bark line dips down dramatically and three pitch centers are visible on this unique piece. The base burned out and the tree toppled over, but much of the wood was preserved aside from some cracks caused by the intense heat of the fire. WOOD: Olive; DIAMETER: 3 1/2"; HEIGHT: 3 1/2"; WEIGHT: 5 Ounces.
PEAR 16
I made this unusual Pear bowl for a friend who gave me the wood. He asked if I could cut a piece off of the end of the log to make a bowl. I told him that it usually warps so much that it will not work well. I added an "internal bowl" to give it more stability as it dried. It still warped, but it is interesting! WOOD: Comice Pear; DIAMETER: 13 1/2"; HEIGHT: 3 1/2"; WEIGHT: 1 POUND 3 OUNCES.
CHERRY 1
This lovely box is made from some wood I picked up at our wood turning club meeting. I believe it is Cherry. Once I turned the bowl I decided it needed a lid so I add a Walnut lid with a Cherry handle. Julie burned the grape leaf pattern with a nice dark background. After applying a finish it almost looks like leather! I love it! WOOD: Cherry/Walnut; DIAMETER: 3 3/4"; HEIGHT: 1 3/4"; WEIGHT: 6 Ounces.
MANZANITA 13
The unique piece of Manzanita root burl was left fairly natural except for the top and the bottom. A 2 1/2" wide hole was cut into the top for placement of a candle if you choose. WOOD: MANZANITA ROOT BURL; DIAMETER: 5"; HEIGHT: 3 1/2"; WEIGHT: 1 Pound 11 Ounces.
OLIVE 16
This natural edge Olive bowl has some interesting grain. Although it looks to be oval that is because it was turned into the face of the log where the bark covered rim rises and falls as you go around. It is actually round.
