This is one of my favorite Valley Oak bowls. It started as a piece with a large crack produced when a huge branch broke off of a friends tree. She offered the wood to me if I could come cut it up and haul it away. Once this large log was on the lathe I had concerns about it flying apart as I spun it. After considerable gluing; filling (two-part epoxy with copper coloring); and sanding this gorgeous bowl emerged! Notice how the character changes at the crack line. One side is fairly standard Valley Oak while the other side has marvelous spalting in twisted grain patterns. PRICE: $150 WOOD: Valley Oak. SIZE: 11 3/4" Diameter by 3 1/2" Tall.
