This black oak bowl was an experiment in dying. I used a Fiebing's USMC Black leather dye on the sanding sealed oak wood. I sealed it because I thought the oak would absorb the dye at different rates according to the grain patterns. That assumption was correct, but the sealer prevented the dye from coating the wood evenly. After about 6-7 coats I was able to achieve a reasonably even coat. WOOD: Black Oak; SIZE: 7 3/4" Diameter by 1 1/2" Tall; WEIGHT: 7 Ounces.
