This large Maple platter is not made from your typical maple tree. The tree was large, old and dying. I was contacted by my friendly tree service guys to see if I wanted the wood. Of course I did! The wood produced an unusual and interesting grain pattern for maple. The platter has a food safe finish and can be used to serve food items despite several small pinholes made by the long departed bugs.
